Getting to Mykonos

From New York

Although there are no direct flights to Mykonos from New York, there are many direct flight paths to Athens from JFK and Newark.

We recommend booking your flights to Athens and Mykonos separately as this is more cost effective than booking a multi leg flight. Note that this option requires you to check in again in Athens.

From the West Coast

If you are traveling from a city that does not offer a direct flight to Athens, we recommend booking a direct flight to one of the five European cities that offers direct flights to Mykonos and connecting from there.

These cities are Paris, London, Milan, Munich, and Frankfurt. We recommend spending a night or two exploring one of these cities should you have the time.

By Sea

If you are planning to spend time in Athens or another island before the wedding, you may opt to take a ferry to Mykonos (2.5 hours). The ferry system is the most cost effective, quick and easy way to hop between the islands.

Travel Tips

Check Your Passport

Make sure your passport does not expire in the next 6 months. If it does, renew it now.

We do not recommend mailing your passport in for a replacement as you don’t know how long it make take to get back. There are many services which can expedite the process for you.

On Renting A Car

If you plan to rent a car during your travels, get an international driver’s permit before you fly. You can do this very easily at AAA.

Note: you must go in person and you cannot obtain a permit for anyone else. They take your picture on site.

What to Pack

Mykonos is all about fun in the sun: expect beach days to turn into dance parties and pack accordingly. This means swimwear, coverups, fun evening looks. Men, linen and espadrilles or sabahs are your best friends. Ladies, leave your stilettos at home: you’ll only want to wear sandals and block heels or wedges. Also, hats.

They don’t call it the windy island for nothin! On windy days and nights you’ll want a layer or two.

Doin’ Mykonos

There is only one way to do Mykonos: pastries, beach, lunch, party, shower, dinner, party, pastries.

We encourage you to dedicate some time to exploring all that Mykonos has to offer, from its famous beaches and clubs to its quiet, authentic dining experiences in the old town square, Ano Mera.
